There are some points of information about certain sections of my website that I would like to make you aware of. As a part of the web pages and other information I produce, every now and again I might review or recommend a product or service on my website. Here are a few things I want to point out about these product comments and reviews which can be found on my website:

Why am I making the effort to explain this whole thing?
The Federal Trade Commission legally requires that I disclose any relationship I have between a product manufacturer or service provider when I write about a product or service. According to the bloated and invasive FTC Guidelines, my personal recommendations legally constitute a “sponsored communication” which I must disclose. I am hereby making that disclosure concerning any product or service recommendations I make. The FCC feels I need to explain this in detail because they think you might not be smart enough to see the difference between a real review and a phony review on your own. They think I might be willing to sell my reputation for an affiliate commission and tout products that are worthless. The fact is that they are wrong, but I have to tell you anyway to cover myself in our excessively litigious society.

The opinions expressed here on my website are my own.  They are my opinions as an individual and do not necessarily reflect the opinions of any companies I work for, have ownership interest in, or any other financial or contractual affiliation with. While I believe the FTC disclosure policies for individual websites and blogs represent an over the top level of big government meddling and intrusion into the affairs of individuals, disclosure in general is a good policy in today’s digital world. It’s important for you to understand the relationship between a person reviewing the product and the manufacturer or service provider – and now you know.
